Inverness and the Flow Country provide a distinctive cultural experience, blending ancient Gaelic traditions with stunning landscapes, including UNESCO-listed wetlands. According to Travel + Leisure’s Alessandra Amodio, this off-the-beaten-path region offers a deep dive into Scottish heritage with historic castles, folk traditions, and a peaceful pace of life. Often eclipsed by Scotland’s more famous cities, Inverness and the Flow Country are ideal for those seeking authenticity and scenic beauty.
Inverness, the capital of the Scottish Highlands, is becoming a major destination. “Inverness is the perfect base from which to explore the stunning Highland scenery,” said a VisitScotland director. Key attractions include the Flow Country, a UNESCO World Heritage site, famous for its wildlife and rolling hills. In 2025, Inverness will début the Inverness Castle Experience, transforming the old prison into a cultural venue with history, music, and local cuisine. Also coming soon is Cabot Highlands, the first U.K. property from the Cabot Collection, featuring the Castle Stuart Golf Links and new accommodations ideal for groups.
