Antananarivo, Madagascar’s capital city, is recommended by Alexander Lobrano of The New York Times for its vibrant arts scene. Explore French colonial architecture, exotic wildlife, and lush landscapes, while discovering the contemporary arts center, La Fondation H.
La Fondation H occupies a restored French colonial brick building, and the first exhibit is dedicated to one of the world’s greatest textile artists: Madame Zo, who died in 2020 and whose weavings were inspired by traditional Malagasy fabrics and basketry. La Fondation H is the latest addition to Madagascar’s rapidly growing number of institutions specializing in contemporary art, including the Musée de la Photographie de Madagascar and Hakanto Contemporary.
