Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett faced numerous attacks from Democratic lawmakers and media, especially regarding her family adopting two of her seven children, Vivian and John Peter, from Haiti. The Wall Street Journal’s readers comment:

Ibram X. Kendi and Ruth Ben-Ghiat between them assert that Judge Amy Coney Barrett and her husband adopted black children as “white colonizers” and “kidnappers”? So I assume these disparaging accusations apply to the Hollywood likes of Sandra Bullock, Madonna, Charlize Theron, Tom Cruise and Angelina Jolie? I can’t recall reading similar racially hyped comments from the progressive left toward celebrities that have graciously adopted children of any color, nor should there be.

And,

The people who are criticizing Amy Coney Barrett and her husband’s adoption of orphans from Haiti aren’t thinking clearly. Why don’t they ask Vivian and John Peter if they would prefer being malnourished in Haiti to being members of the Barrett family? Sorry, critics, but you’re making yourselves look idiotic.
