With sustainability at the forefront, Western Australia is a dream for eco-conscious explorers in 2025. Nora Walsh of The New York Times highlights the state’s completion of the world’s longest electric vehicle highway—4,350 miles of scenic drives dotted with 110 charging stations. This green revolution makes road-tripping from the Coral Coast Highway to Margaret River’s wineries easier than ever. Travelers can also wander through ancient forests at the Valley of the Giants, embracing nature while treading lightly on the environment.

This year, Australia is set to unveil its longest electric vehicle (E.V.) highway, linking 110 fast-charging stations over 4,350 miles of scenic roads in Western Australia. Eco-conscious road-trippers can choose from a variety of routes, with charging stations located about 100 miles apart. On the nearly 800-mile Coral Coast Highway between Perth and Exmouth, visitors can marvel at the Kalbarri National Park Skywalk, which juts 300 feet above a gorge, or swim with whale sharks in Coral Bay. South of Perth, the Margaret River region is a haven for wine lovers. A 745-mile drive along the South West Edge route will take you through the Valley of the Giants Tree Top Walk, where you can stroll among the canopy of ancient trees, past the wildflower fields of Fitzgerald River National Park, and to Esperance, home to sugar-white beaches.
